Neat Photo Ideas

With the recent emergence of digital cameras most people’s first thoughts when it comes to photos is online sharing and online storage of photos. Many sites have popped up to allow photo sharing and sending of cards with photos on them and even the major social networks have gotten in on the game of photo sharing. Well the ability to share photos in an unprecedented way is a tremendous feature it is risking the reduction in photos as an art form. As thrilling as it is to be able to share photos online, the nicest and most vivid photos you will see are the ones that are printed out.

Photos canvas prints are terrific to look at and can be a great addition to a room in your home or on a wall in a museum. In addition being able to leaf through a photo album or bring calm to your life by reflecting on a photo in our wallet are time-honored traditions. Other unique manifestations of photos include photo gifts such as calendars with personal photos and desk pieces. As good as digital technology is becoming it is not yet cheap enough to make it reasonable to produce all these physical manifestations of photos using purely digital images. To realize photos in these forms still requires printouts. Eventually this may change as photo frames are evidencing but this will likely be a few decades out.

Revolution in Art

Revolution in Art

Digital technology has revolutionized many fields and perhaps no field has benefited more from digital technology than art. Computers have provided breakthroughs in several areas of art due to the special capabilities that computers provide in manipulating images, adding effects, and seamlessly generating very detail rich animation. These breakthroughs can be seen in many places. Many museums now feature pieces of art that have a large inspiration based on computer input. Canvas printing now allows these works to be produced on high quality materials that most artists prefer to use for their works. These new techniques have allowed rendering methods and levels of detail and physical precision that were virtually impossible prior to the advent of computers. Animation of life like scenes to the degree produced by some of the computer based animation studios would have been infeasible if done by hand.

Although canvas prints, computer animated movies and other digital works are the most outward facing and visible impact of computers and the digital revolution on art they are by no means the only impact. Another area of art that has been drastically impacted by computer technology is the distribution of artwork. Computer technology and the Internet allow for very wide distribution and replication of works and given the current high bandwidths these works can maintain their high resolutions when transferred digitally.
